About EIF
Background
In 2003, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) recognized the need and potential for greater collaboration and merged their foundations to create the Exhibition Industry Foundation. Since inception, EIF has funded various research and promotion initiatives as well as awarded scholarships to students interested in pursuing a career in the industry.
Overview
Funding is provided by EIF for its core goals of research, education and industry promotion. While these programs are primarily delivered through industry collaboration, EIF will also fund initiatives from other organizations or individuals that focus on advancing the industry within these core areas. As an industry-wide resource, EIF will work to avoid duplication of efforts and welcomes collaboration to ensure prudent use of existing resources.
Research
A comprehensive industry barometer with a current snapshot of the overall health of the marketplace is a critical necessity given today's ever-changing economic conditions. The CEIR Index is this barometer and can serve as a predictive tool. At the same time, it is imperative new metrics are understood and used to measure the value of a show in light of current industry challenges. A strategy to disseminate this data must be evaluated to ensure the information is reaching the appropriate audiences. To further evaluate the importance of the industry, EIF will focus on three key areas of research: Technology, Economic Impact and Generational Research.
Education and Workforce Development
Individuals entering the industry must be educated and given the tools to succeed and highlights the need for continuing education. More seasoned professionals are challenged to find advanced programming. Additionally, there is also a growing demand for exhibitors to receive quality training and instruction. The more exhibitors who are able to leverage their presence, the more likely they are to become an industry advocate.
Industry Promotion
Promoting the value of an industry can be costly, and EIF must reach the correct target audience to reinforce the value proposition of face-to-face marketing. Once resources are created, EIF has a greater opportunity to bring more attention to the industry by quantifying its impact.
